Vinpocetine

Vinpocetine is a peripheral vasodilation agent; it promotes the free flow of oxygen and nutrients into the brain by widening the peripheral blood vessels. Vinpocetine is also an indole alkaloid. It’s used to make various kinds of pharmaceutical drugs.

Vinpocetine targets specific areas of the brain. It increases the supply of oxygen, glucose, and nutrient-rich blood into the encephalic area of the brain. Vinpocetine’s actions improve mental health and enhance uptake of vital resources necessary for neuron health.

The herbal nootropic takes care of stress, panic, and fatigue-related problems by influencing the locus coeruleus. This is the region of the brainstem that deals with our response to stress, panic, etc.

While targeting the brainstem region, vinpocetine also stimulates norepinephrine and re-activates neurons. The neurons found in the brainstem and the cerebral cortex region die as we grow old; this leads to age-related cognitive decline. Vinpocetine reactivates the medium-sized neurons and reverses cognitive decline.

The anti-inflammatory and vasodilator properties of vinpocetine are responsible for many of the nootropic benefits the supplement offers. The nootropic improves the efficiency and overall health of the brain.

Vinpocetine and Memory: This nootropic supplement is a well-known memory enhancer that’s widely prescribed and used to treat memory disorders in Eastern European countries. Several clinical experiments have been carried out to study the connection between vinpocetine and memory. The findings of these studies suggest that the nootropic supplement has a very positive effect on memory formation, speed of recall, and accuracy of memory recall, especially in elderly people. Studies show that vinpocetine is equally effective in enhancing memory in young adults.

Vinpocetine and Mood: In our brain, vinpocetine acts as the promoter of vital neurotransmitters and brain chemicals. It’s equally effective in neuron signal transmission. Increase in neurotransmitter levels and improved impulse transmission offers various cognitive benefits including reduction in anxiety, improved mood, and a general feeling of well-being.

Vinpocetine and Mental Clarity: Our body makes use of vinpocetine to convert lipids and glucose to ATP, the main sourceof energy inthe cell. Higher ATP availability in the brain will lead to faster learning and improved intellectual capacity. ATP presence in the brain automatically reduces fatigue, mental tiredness, and indecisiveness, and improves mental clarity.

Vinpocetine and Focus: Vinpocetine increases blood flow to the brain without impacting the blood pressure in other parts of the body. Improved blood circulation naturally boosts mental energy, focus, concentration, and attention span.

I purchase Vinpocetine from 2 – 3 places. I do feel they are all the same, but lately I’ve started feeling my old self – inattentive, lazy, and unable to concentrate. Does the brand or source of the supplement matter? TIA.

I take Vinpocetine in the tablet form to improve overall cognition. Earlier I used to take 40mg per day (2 tablets of 10mg in the morning and 2 at night). Now I take only 30mg per days (3 tablets before night). Not bad at all. The only issue though is that the supplement reduces my sleep time.

Feeding two tablets of Vinpocetine to my son who is autistic. It works slowly, but I can see good results. His language skills have improved, and his attention too has improved to some extent. Hope the progress continues.

Of late I get worked up for the smallest of issues. Fortunately, I don’t have hypertension, I checked, but I get angry, worry too much, and get really anxious. Will Vinpocetine calm my nerves, reduce anxiety, and help me solve the problem instead of constantly worrying about it? A quick response will be much appreciated. Thanks.
